The Man born Blind was actually born without eye sockets. So, Christ, in healing him, and creating eyes for him, showed himself to be the Saviour.

This Gospel (John 9:1-38), tells us of the 3 origins of Sin:

1. Original (aka Ancestral Sin) – the Sins of Adam and Eve, which caused the fall, and which are the cause of all the strange things of our fallen world, such as sicknesses, which are not normal.

This was removed by Christ through his death on the Cross.

2. Our individual sins, which are our fault.

3. The sins of our immediate ancestors.

These formed the basis of the questions of Christ´s enemies, the Pharisees:

They ask the Blind Man´s parents, if he was born blind. The parents say yes. They then ask: how is it that he can now see. His parents reply – we do not know. He is of age, ask him.

The Pharisees then mock the Blind Man, saying that he must have been blind because of some sin. The Blind Man mocks them back, saying that he was cured by Jesus, and asking them if they too, want to follow him. They then reject him, and throw him out of the Synagogue.

Christ reveals that the Blind Man had not been born blind because of any sin, but to glorify God.

Christ had put clay on the Blind Man´s eye sockets, and told him to go and wash them in the Pool of Siloam, which is miraculous and was established by King Hezekiah and fed by a spring outside the City during a siege (in the 8^th Century BC). When the Blind Man went there and did this, he then received his Sight. This is an act of Creation and a form of baptism, creating a new creation, in a new category from those who had previously been baptised. We share in this as we are also new creatures baptised in the Lord. When we are baptised and believe in our baptism we can see things with our nous, our new spiritual eyes given by the Lord.

The Blind Man wanted to Worship the Man who had cured him. Christ told the Blind Man that he was looking at Him now. The Blind Man then prostrated himself, and worshipped Christ as God.

The Blind Man, like all those in the True Faith who are faithful to it, had suffered for it. The Pharisees had mocked him. He had mocked them back – asking them if they too wanted to worship Christ. He would not back down.

We can learn a huge amount from this, one of the greatest of all the Gospels.

Normally people had sought out Christ, seeking to be healed or to have a loved one healed. But the Blind Man had not sought out Christ. This time it was Christ who sought him out. Christ rewarded the Blind Man´s real spiritual faith, his noetic vision.

We must aim for miracles of our own, and our own noetic vision. Let us pray for that and then we can rejoice with Christ and fall down and worship Him like the man born blind.

O cego de nascença nasceu, de facto, sem órbitas oculares. Por isso, Cristo, ao curá-lo e ao criar-lhe olhos, mostrou ser o Salvador.

Este Evangelho (João 9,1-38), fala-nos das 3 origens do Pecado:
1. Pecado Original (também conhecido como Pecado Ancestral) - os Pecados de Adão e Eva, que causaram a queda, e que são a causa de todas as coisas estranhas do nosso mundo caído, como as doenças, que não são normais.

Este pecado foi removido por Cristo através da sua morte na Cruz.

2. Os nossos pecados individuais, que são culpa nossa.

3. Os pecados dos nossos antepassados diretos.

Estes foram a base das perguntas dos inimigos de Cristo, os fariseus:

questionaram aos pais do cego se ele nasceu cego. Os pais dizem que sim. Perguntam então: como é que ele agora vê? Os pais respondem: “Não sabemos. Ele é maior de idade, perguntem-lhe.

Os fariseus zombam então do cego, dizendo que ele deve ter ficado cego por causa de algum pecado. O cego brincou deles, dizendo que foi curado por Jesus e perguntando-lhes se também eles o querem seguir. Eles rejeitam-no e expulsam-no da sinagoga.

Cristo revela que o cego não nasceu cego por causa de um pecado, mas para glorificar a Deus.

Cristo tinha posto barro nas órbitas dos olhos do cego e disse-lhe para ir lavá-los no tanque de Siloé, que é milagroso e foi estabelecido pelo rei Ezequias e alimentado por uma nascente fora da cidade durante um cerco (no século VIII a.C.). Quando o cego foi lá e fez isso, recebeu a visão. Trata-se de um ato de Criação e de uma forma de batismo, que cria uma nova criação, numa nova categoria em relação aos que já tinham sido batizados. Nós participamos nisto, pois somos também novas criaturas batizadas no Senhor. Quando somos batizados e acreditamos no nosso batismo, podemos ver as coisas com o nosso nus, os nossos novos olhos espirituais dados pelo Senhor.

O cego queria adorar o homem que o tinha curado. Cristo disse ao cego que agora estava a olhar para Ele. O cego então prostrou-se e adorou Cristo como Deus.

O Cego, como todos os fiéis à Verdadeira Fé, tinha sofrido por ela. Os fariseus tinham zombado dele. Ele riu-se deles, perguntando-lhes se também eles queriam adorar Cristo. Ele não recuou.

Podemos aprender muito com este facto, um dos maiores de todos os Evangelhos.

Normalmente, as pessoas procuravam Cristo, para serem curadas ou para curar uma pessoa querida. Mas o cego não tinha procurado Cristo. Desta vez, foi Cristo que o procurou. Cristo recompensou a verdadeira fé espiritual do cego, a sua visão noética, ou seja o seu estatuto espiritual.

Devemos ter como objetivo os nossos próprios milagres e a nossa própria visão noética, ou seja o seu coração espiritual. Rezemos por isso e então poderemos regozijar-nos com Cristo, prostrar-nos e adorá-lo como o cego de nascença.
